Lourdes Invites Area Women to Make an IMPACT on Healthcare

We’ve all heard that old adage about ‘when you want something done, ask a woman,’” commented Tara Miller, Lourdes Foundation Executive Director. “And as women, we do like to think of ourselves as committed and productive. And that’s precisely why we decided to create the IMPACT Lourdes project and direct it to leading women who often want to make a significant contribution to their community but aren’t always decisive about where or how they can best invest their charitable funds.”

“IMPACT Lourdes is designed to recruit 100 passionate, purposeful women who will pledge $1,000 over the course of a year,” Miller added. At the end of the year, the group will enjoy a social event and, together, will select the Lourdes project or service that will be funded with their individual contributions.

The membership will, in essence, make grants to the hospital through the Lourdes Foundation allowing Lourdes to significantly enhance its provision of high quality healthcare and medical services.“Women now hold greater influence and financial resources than at any time in history,” Miller noted. “IMPACT Lourdes is an opportunity for the powerful, generous women of our community to have a material collective impact on one of the most basic needs we all have—quality, accessible healthcare.”

Miller noted that often women on their own or single mothers have great difficulty accessing adequate insurance coverage and available healthcare. “We know the IMPACT Lourdes team of local women can make a difference and change lives for the better with their shared commitment. We’re looking forward to our first year of making an impact on the healthcare needs of our community.

Susan Guess, Vice President of Marketing at Paducah Bank is one of those committed women. “This is such a great idea. Women are busy with their lives and their work and families. This is a very simple way to make a contribution in a manner that I know will be meaningful. In fact, I will actually have a voice in how the funding is used. I think this is a very creative and productive project and I hope many local women will join IMPACT Lourdes.”
