Lourdes Awards Scholarships to Area High School Students

Lourdes awarded $6,000 worth of scholarships to three Paducah Tilghman High School seniors on Tuesday, May 15 at the school’s auditorium. This is the third year Lourdes has given out the scholarships. They’re open to any high school senior who excels academically (GPA of 3.0 minimum) has an interest in healthcare and is active in school and his or her community.
This year’s scholarship recipients are: Amber Hussain, Bishlam Pea, and Azia Rouse.

Amber Hussain will pursue a medical career and will attend the University of Louisville in the fall. She participated in Academic Team, National Honors Society, HOSA, Recycling Club, Beta Club and Literary Circle. She is fluent in English, Urdu and Spanish.
Bishlam Pea plans to pursue a nursing degree and will attend the University of Kentucky in the fall. He is President of the Keystone Club, organization oriented toward providing unique leadership development experience opportunities for young people. Pea is also a member of the Forensic Speech Team, Soccer Team, Track Team and Cross Country team.
Azia Rouse, member of the Paducah Tilghman High School Band of Blue Color guard, Student Council, Beta Club, Recycling Club, Manager of the PTHS Girls Basketball Team, Spanish Club, FBLA. She plans on attending the University of Kentucky and studying Dietetics Administration. Each student won a $2,000 scholarship.
