LOURDES PET-CT SCANNER

Lourdes was the first hospital in the region with an in-house PET/CT scanner, the most advanced technology available to provide early detection and treatment of cancer and give physicians more precise strategies to direct patient treatment.
 
Positron Emission Tomography (PET) combines computer technology with the expertise of medicine, chemistry, physics and physiology to study the functions of the body. The PET scanner measures the radioactive material that is injected into your bloodstream, determining the location of the radioactive substances with the computer translating the information into pictures or images.
 
Most insurance plans cover PET scans. If you are scheduled for a PET scan, you should contact your insurance company for verification of benefits.
